Search for talented youth and the creation of conditions of their state support is a priority for the leading countries in the world. In Ukraine, these functions are performed by the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, an educational organization which provides such strategically important for the state field of education work with intellectually gifted youth, their search, support, development, patriotic education and professional orientation, preparing for the country highly intellectual and highly professional human resources.     

Educational process in the institutions of the Junior Academy of Sciences is organized in the form of classes, science clubs, lectures, conferences, excursions, expeditions, summer schools, workshops etc. All school students have the opportunity to study at the Junior Academy. In the process of study young researches under the guidance of experienced teachers develop their abilities, gain experience of independent creative work, make their first steps in a competitive environment protecting their ideas in various competitions and contests.  

Students of JAS broadly present their projects at the international level. In particular, in the category of Physics school students participate in physics camp at the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN (Switzerland), students of the Junior Academy in the category of Chemistry and Biology study in the biochemistry camp in the Experimental Laboratory for Youth “X-Lab” (Germany), students from other categories participate in various international scientific competitions: International Conference ICYS, International Environment & Sustainability Project Olympiad INESPO, OKSEF, Genius Olympiad, Intel ISEF, EUCYS, CASTIC, International Brain Bee Competition, Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp etc. Thus, talented children have the opportunity to deepen knowledge and gain necessary experience in the leading world laboratories under the guidance of prominent scientists.

For the purpose of preparation of children for participation in international competitions, conferences, and camps at the Junior Academy, there were created Science English Project “Brainy English”, programs of public speaking, presentation skills and basics of diplomatic etiquette.   

Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as a permanent member of many international organizations such as the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC), European Council for High Ability (ECHA), European Association of Institutions of Non-formal Education of Children and Youth (EAICY), International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (MILSET) is in the world of scientific and pedagogical discourse on the forms, methods and practices of work with gifted children and young people on the one hand, and on the other hand the Academy work on raising the credibility of our country in the eyes of the world community as a stable and reliable partner that is committed and able to collaborate in the development of innovative solutions in the field of education and global challenges.

UNESCO, having studied Ukrainian experience, has recognized the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as the undisputed leader in work with creative youth and the 39th Session of the General Directorate of UNESCO decided to establish a UNESCO Center for Science Education for creative youth at the Junior Academy.
