Introduction of STEM Study Contest Online Challenge

线上科技运动会云挑战是从兴华国际青少年科技运动会中选取水火箭、铁丝陀螺、抛石机攻城、纸桥承重四个项目,在原有比赛方案的基础上形成普适性、操作性更强的云挑战方案进行线上PK。活动面向中国及“一带一路”沿线国家初高中学生开放。选手可任选一项参加挑战(也可同时挑战多项),通过对项目的研习,按照要求完成挑战,并将挑战成果上传至本网站,云挑战栏目将按裁判认定的各项目最新挑战成绩排序展示。完成云挑战的选手将会根据挑战成绩和投票数获得相应证书奖励。

一、作品提交要求

选手根据各项目的云挑战比赛方案在规定时间内完成相应挑战任务,并以小组为单位提交作品,每个小组只需上传1份作品,即每组派一位代表上传作品即可,其他成员不能重复提交。每个项目提交的作品包含挑战视频和研究报告两部分,具体统一要求如下:

1.挑战视频规范:

(1)时长:不超过 10 分钟;

(2)格式:MP4,MOV, AVI;

(3)大小:不超过 500Mb;

(4)内容:视频须包含制作研究过程和挑战测试录像两个部分(先后顺序可互换)。其中制作研究过程部分可包含团队和作品简要介绍;方案设计、项目探究、作品制作的简要过程记录;参与挑战的收获感想等。挑战测试录像部分要求详见各项目测试拍摄要求。

(5)质量:画面清楚,声音、字幕与画面同步,无明显噪声,配音采用英文,音质清晰,字幕可用英文+选手本国语言。

2.研究报告规范:

(1)文件格式:PDF。大小、字数不限。

(2)报告内容可包含团队和作品介绍、挑战过程中必要的记录(如设计思路、总体设计图、结构设计、作品材料、制作过程简述、运用的科学原理等)、对挑战问题的探究、作品亮点、团队与作品的合影、参与挑战的收获感想等。

二、证书与奖励

所有按照要求完成挑战并上传作品的小组均获得由组委会提供的电子证书,其中各项目挑战成绩的最终排行榜的第一名将获得由组委会奖励的相应项目专用器材一套,排名前45%的小组将获得优秀奖,其余获得参与奖。此外各项目投票数前10名的小组将获得云挑战 “最佳人气奖”。各小组所获电子证书为该小组所有小组成员(含指导老师)共用。


The STEM Study Contest Online Challenge is an online contest program based on the original program of the Xinghua International STEM Study Contest, in which four projects, namely  “Water Rocket”,“Wire Spinning Top”,“Trebuchet Attacking Fortress” and “Strongest Paper Bridge”, are selected to form a more adaptable and operational online challenge program. The event is aimed at middle and high school students from China and other countries along the Belt and Road. Contestants can choose any one challenge (or multiple challenges at the same time), complete the challenge by studying the project, and upload the challenge results to this website, where the online challenge section will be displayed according to the latest challenge results of each project as determined by the judges. Contestants who complete the online challenge will be rewarded with certificates based on their challenge results and votes.

I. Submission requirements

According to the online challenge competition scheme of each project, the contestants should complete the corresponding challenge tasks within the specified time and submit their works as a group. Each group should only upload one work, that is, each group should assign one representative to upload the work, and other members should not submit repeatedly. The work submitted for each project contains two parts: the challenge video and the research report. The specific requirements are as follows.

1. the challenge video.

(1) Length: no more than 10 minutes.

(2) Format: MP4, MOV, AVI.

(3) Size: no more than 500Mb.

(4) Content: The video should contain two parts: the research and production process and the challenge test (the order can be interchanged). The research and production process part may include a brief introduction of the team and the works; a brief record of the project design, project exploration, and the production of the works; reflections on participating in the challenge, etc. The requirements of the challenge test video part are detailed in the requirements of each project.

(5) Quality: clear picture, sound and subtitles synchronized with the picture, no obvious noise, dubbing in English, clear sound quality, subtitles can be in English plus the contestants' own language.

2. the research report .

(1) File format: PDF. Unlimited size and word count.

(2) The content of the report could include the introduction of the team and the work, the necessary records of the process of the challenge (such as design concepts, overall design diagram, structural design, materials of the work, a brief description of the production process, scientific principles used, etc.), the investigation of the challenge, the highlights of the work, the group photo of the team with the work, and the reflections and rewards of participating in the challenge.

II. Certificates and Awards

All teams that complete the challenge and upload their works as required will receive an electronic certificate provided by the organizing committee. The first place team in the final ranking of each project will receive a set of special equipment from the organizing committee, the top 45% of the teams will receive the Excellence Award, and the rest will receive the Participation Award. In addition, the top 10 teams that get the most votes in each project will receive the Online Challenge "Best Popularity Award". The electronic certificate awarded to each group will be shared by all group members (including the instructor) of that group.
